Kirstie Rea, Australia
Kirstie Rea is a great artist, represented in numerous public collections and museums worldwide. During her years at the Canberra School of Arts she worked as an assistant for Klaus Moje and Stephen Procter. Beside her personal work as an artist, she devotes her time for the international art glass community and also works for the organisation Craftact in Canberra.
It is with great joy we announce Kirstie Rea’s class, in which the students can look forward to a five-day experience full of excitement and inspiration presented with an Australian touch.
The character of Kirstie Rea’s artwork is an expression of her creative process - focused, clear and direct. The strength of her work does not come from the technique but from the concept. This is what Kirstie Rea will communicate in this class. She presents us with methods to develop and explore ideas and how to transform them into artwork. The students will work on an idea concept in three versions of fusing / casting. They will focus on using tint colours in mult-layers, which will be fired within simply constructed dams. Precise firing cycles as well as cold working processes (with simple hand tools) are further subjects of this class.
Skills in fusing and/or casting are required.
